“I am so glad I finally get to sit down and write this review. It may be a little lengthy but I will try to keep it as concise as possible. Our experience with Sam has been far above and beyond any expectation we could’ve possibly had. The way she leads with her heart and her passion has truly left an imprint on us. Being a recipient of her passion work and expertise is not something that we will soon forget and also the reason why, for us, we would choose Sam every time. 

We came to Sam in the middle of our third pregnancy. She was a blessing to find as we came across her when we weren’t sure exactly what we were going to do care wise. We valued our experience- how we’re treated, how we’re regarded, how we’re seen- above anything else and was willing to wait until we found the right fit. Sam was that right fit. As a black woman traversing the pregnancy and birth space, it can be very scary and intimidating to find a care provider who listens to, understands, and values you, your understanding of your body, and your experience. Sam effortlessly does all of those things and more. Sam has not only curated such a beautiful safe space for women like me, but she stands by and upholds it every step of the way as well. Never once did I feel like I had to shrink myself in anyway to communicate and connect with her. I was able to share all aspects of my walk as a black woman, comfortably, and they be heard and valued. Sam has shown me what an ally to my community really is. I can honestly say before meeting her, I’ve never experienced that before. And with this being my third pregnancy, I have experienced other midwifery’s/birth centers before and neither of those experiences compare to what I have received from Sam. What Sam has to offer is truly invaluable. Her positive energy is radiating. She is consistently affirming and always encouraging. She is constantly validating. She has helped me achieve a new level of trust in myself, my body, and my intuition simply by entrusting me. Although, even with all of that, one of the most valuable things she has offered to us was the fact that she cares. And that attribute in a midwife can’t be taught, and when you experience it, it can’t be replaced. So, Sam, thank you for everything you have gifted to me and my family. The blessing in finding you, as I mentioned before, we won’t soon forget. ~T

“Choosing to have a homebirth for my first child was not the norm in my circles. I had to substantiate my decision with scientific reasoning more times than I can count. I am hoping that if you have gotten to the point of reading a testimony on Sage Midwifery’s page, you are lucky enough to already be informed on what birth can be. 

There are not many opportunities in which I get to talk about my birth journey. Mostly because I do not like to boast. I do not like to brag that I was able to experience birth 100% naturally, that I got to birth EXACTLY as I had hoped, that I got to spend the first hours of my life as a mother in my own bed with my partner by my side and our baby between us, that my baby immediately latched to my chest, and that I felt infinitely more love than fear in the hours of pain I endured before meeting my little one. I believe the reason I was able to achieve the birth of my dreams is because of my decision to entrust Sage Midwifery with my care. I was educated, empowered, evaluated, and tended to with such love and skill that the outcome was such a success.  

My prenatal, birth, and postpartum appointments were incredible. After our initial zoom interview, all appointments/interactions took place in the comfort of my home and were so in depth that one of my appointments was over 2 hours long. Ronit and Sam made me feel like there was no topic that was irrelevant. I was never interrupted. They were a type of clinician I had never experienced- intelligent yet humble, efficient yet patient, warm yet professional. They used the prenatal appointments to evaluate my ability to deliver at home, educate me on all possibilities, and prepare me for motherhood. By the time I was in labor I was ready, my partner was ready, my house was ready. I experienced many things during my 17 hours of labor including episodes of questioning my own strength and ability to endure the pain, but never did I feel doubt in my decision of hiring Sage; I knew I was in the most capable of hands. 

I was so excited for each one of my postpartum appointments.So many more than I ever would have gotten with an OBGYN.Roni and Sam became like family to us. I remember feeling sad when the end of our visits would approach. 

At 3 months postpartum now, I already can’t wait to get pregnant again. There is NO DOUBT in my or my partner’s mind that we will try to hire Sage again when that day hopefully and safely comes.” ~D

The fact that they are then also experts in their fields and always looking to learn more and sharpen their skills makes you wonder why you ever went to an OB for anything.
